After a career in the public health service, notably as head of the radiology department, Guy Cosnard has put his energy and good humour at the service of the Alexis Le Gall cannery museum project. This print enthusiast, who now works with linocuts, was president of the Association of Friends of the Alexis Le Gall Cannery from 2016 to 2018. On this occasion, he led several actions to raise awareness among Loctudists about this remarkable maritime heritage. He was also a precious support for the municipal actors in the search for funding.

I have had two careers. First I was a doctor, then I became an engraver.

 

 

Its role in the of the museum project

I supported the town hall, which wanted a support association to be set up, so as to be able to launch the project and obtain subsidies, whether from the Department, the Region or the State. So in the summer of 2016, with several other volunteers, I created the association of Friends of the Alexis Le Gall Cannery (ACAL).

 

 

its notion of heritage

For me, heritage is above all about our history and our past. To know where we are going, we must know where we come from.

 

 

its great challenges

The biggest challenge was to get Loctudists interested in their heritage.

 

 

its best souvenir

My fondest memory is the interview with the oldest surviving female cannery worker in Loctudy, which I attended with Pierre Quillivic. It was a very moving moment.
